2018 marks the 90th year in the history of Sargent’s Nursery. The story began in 1928 when Forrest H. Sargent purchased the bankrupt Burnside Nursery and renamed it Red Wing Nursery, Forrest H. Sargent & Sons. During the ’30s they sold bare root shrubs and trees in the spring and grew and sold fruits and vegetables in the summer and fall. In 1940 the name was changed to Red Wing Nursery.
From that time on Sargent’s Nursery has been owned and managed by members of the Sargent family. The business has evolved adding a landscape design & installation department, expanding the retail store and building our first retail greenhouse. The family tradition continued in 2015 when Dave Lewis became the majority owner with Julie Peterson and Anne Matzek co-directing the landscape department as it continues today.
Over the past 90 years there has been an incredible team of employees. Many thanks to that team for providing the customer support that has brought Sargent’s to it’s 90th year in business!
