Perennial Grower

Member Starting Hourly Wage: $20-$22/hr

As a Perennial Grower, you will be involved in all aspects of perennial crop production—from planning and planting to daily care and preparation for sale. You’ll report to the Perennial Manager and work closely with the Assistant Perennial Manager to ensure our plants meet Sargent’s high standards for quality and consistency.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, values plant health and quality, and is ready to lead by example during our busiest seasons.

Key Responsibilities: Perennial Production: Plan, plant, pot, prune, weed, and maintain healthy perennial crops | Cultural Care: Manage irrigation, fertilization, and pest and disease control using IPM practices | Inventory & Sales Prep: Track inventory and prepare plants for retail | Equipment Operation: Safely operate greenhouse and nursery equipment and tools | Team Support: Assist with daily task direction, staff training, and production support (experience-dependent) | Customer Service & Safety: Provide knowledgeable customer assistance while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment

Requirements: Degree in horticulture, agriculture, or related field, or prior greenhouse/nursery production experience | Strong knowledge of plant care, soils, irrigation, and environmental conditions | Detail-oriented with ability to monitor plant health and production quality | Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods | Experience with greenhouse pest management.

Perennial Department Team Member

Starting Hourly Wage: $14-$18/hr

Support the care, presentation, and inventory of perennial plants while providing knowledgeable customer assistance.

Key Responsibilities: Stock and maintain retail-ready perennial plants | Daily watering and plant health monitoring | Scout for pests or disease and report concerns | Deadhead, prune, label, and restock plants as needed | Assist customers with plant questions in a friendly manner
Requirements: Basic knowledge of perennial plants | Physically active role with walking, standing, bending, and lifting

Garden Center Team Member

Starting Hourly Wage: $14-$18/hr

Support daily retail operations by assisting customers, caring for plants, and maintaining an attractive, welcoming garden center.

Key Responsibilities: Assist customers with product and plant questions | Maintain healthy, well-organized plant and product displays | Support daily greenhouse and retail operations
Work Environment: Indoor/outdoor greenhouse setting | Exposure to varying temperatures | Standing, lifting, bending throughout shifts
Requirements: Strong customer service and communication skills | Physically able to perform job duties | Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends

Professional Garden Care Team Member

Starting Hourly Wage: $17-$18/hr

Provide professional garden maintenance services with attention to detail, efficiency, and pride in workmanship.

Key Responsibilities & Skills: Perform garden maintenance tasks (weeding, pruning, planting, cleanup) | Identify common shrubs, perennials, and weeds | Maintain steady work pace and follow direction | Communicate clearly with Garden Care Leaders and Manager

Work Environment: Outdoor work in all weather conditions | Physically demanding tasks: bending, lifting, digging, pulling, pushing

Requirements: Must be 16 years of age or older | Valid driver’s license required

Landscape Installation Crew

Member Starting Hourly Wage: $17-$18/hr

Assist with the installation of custom landscape designs while working collaboratively with designers, homeowners, and crew members.

Key Responsibilities & Skills: Read and execute landscape designs and material lists | Maintain organization and efficiency on job sites | Communicate effectively with team members and clients | Perform physically demanding outdoor installation work
Work Environment: Outdoor job sites in varying weather conditions | Frequent lifting, digging, bending, and material handling
Requirements: Must be 16 years of age or older | Valid driver’s license required
