There is still time to get your spring pruning done. According to the U of M Extension, late dormant season is the perfect time to prune. Pruning now leaves fresh cuts exposed for the shortest period as new growth will start and seal the cuts. Also, without all the leaves on the plant it is much easier to see what branches need to be pruned or if there are any damaged or diseased branches to remove. For more information pruning your particular trees or shrubs, consult the U’s Pruning Trees and Shrubs Yard and Garden article.
Sargent’s staff can also help you make pruning recommendations. Snap a few photos of the tree or shrub and any areas of concern and we will be happy to give you our recommendations. Sargent’s also carries a large selection pruners, pruning saws and loppers.
